Showered With Memories

Hosting a Scrapbook Baby Shower

Hiring a Consultant
A scrapbook consultant assists with planning and organizing the shower. She can sit down with the expectant mother and help her decide what type of album she prefers and which page layouts would be most suitable. The consultant will also have needed supplies, such as stickers, die cuts and scrapbook albums on hand, so it is one-stop shopping for the hostess.

How Much Will This Cost?
Scrapbook showers have many of the same costs as other showers: food, decorations, invitations. Additional costs include the baby album, supplies needed to decorate the pages and the consultant's fee if applicable.

Since the scrapbook will be presented at the end of the shower, attendees usually contribute money in lieu of a gift. The funds help cover the costs of the scrapbook, pages and supplies (approximately $10 to $15 per guest).

Getting Started
Whether you choose to hire a consultant or do the legwork yourself, here are some steps for getting started:

Step One: Create a Guest List
Knowing how many people are invited will help determine the number of pages to be decorated. A good approximation is two pages per guest. Don't worry if there are pages that do not get completed at the shower. Constructing the pages will be easy for the new mom since all of the necessar pieces for each layout are organized and ready to be assembled.
