Drink More Water!

Here are some tips for keeping track of how much water you're truly drinking.

  • "It is so helpful to create a chart for the fridge and keep track," says Menelli, who marks every 5 ounces on her chart. "Sometimes you can find glasses marked in ounces so that you know how much you are getting in a glass."
  • A water bottle should travel with a pregnant woman wherever she goes. "Many of my clients will set a timer or a watch that beeps to remind them it's time to drink water," Bennett says.
  • Many pregnant – and non-pregnant – women feel a drop in energy during mid to late afternoon hours, Bennett says. Beat that afternoon slump by eating a bit of healthy protein at that time and drinking at least one full glass of water with it, she suggests. "Pregnant women should be nibbling protein about every three hours," Bennett says. "If they drink a glass of water each time they nibble, this can help them stay hydrated."
