Comfort Food
Stress-busting Meals
Pirello describes one's body as any other machine with many moving parts. The better care we take of it, the more efficiently it will function. "I sometimes say that we take better care of our cars than our bodies," says Pirello. "If we are preparing for a long trip and a lot of stress on our cars, we will make sure to change the oil, use premium petrol, all in the hopes of extending its life and efficient function. If we feed our bodies in a way that allows our organs to function free of blockages and build-ups, they can work smoothly and efficiently, allowing us to face life's stress with strength and a calm attitude."
Pirello realizes that many people turn to comfort food in times of stress, but, she says, the type of comfort food you choose can either make things worse or improve the situation. For example, foods rich in white sugar and fat may help you relieve stress for a few moments, but will eventually make you feel sluggish and even more stressed.
There are healthy comfort foods that can actually work to relieve stress in the long haul, according to Pirello. She offers these stress-busting comfort food recipes, which will prove that point. And, says Pirello, "Bon appetit and bon voyage to stres!"
