Eeek! It's a Haunted Open House

Throw a Halloween Open House

Unfortunately, many neighborhoods are no longer safe for trick-or-treating. Even if your area is benign, you probably don't want your kids venturing into outlying neighborhoods for candy. So where can families turn for safe Halloween fun? Invite friends and neighbors to a haunted open house! Your kids will enjoy making our Spooky Secret Invitations, setting the right atmosphere with bubbling dry ice, luring guests into the Monster Museum and feasting on Pumpkin Pizza Appetizers and Ghostie-Pops. (Don't warn guests beforehand about the monstrous surprise in the punch.)

Why hold an open house instead of a regular Halloween party? Many families decide to do at least some trick-or-treating at the homes of friends or family. They don't want to completely book their evening but they may find themselves home early with nothing to do. An open house is the perfect solution for flexible Halloween fun. Families can arrive at the open house when it's convenient for them and depart when they're ready. And, because people will drop in and out at different times, you can invite more partygoers than usual.

Spooky Secret Invitations
Plan the party's details before helping your kids make our ghost-shaped, invisible ink invitations. How many families do you want to invite to the haunted house? When should the party start? How long do you want the festivities to last? Hint: two to three hours works well for this type of party.
