The Appeal of Apples for First-time Eaters

Oatmeal and Bananas

1/4 cup instant oats
1/2 cup water, formula or breast milk
1/4 cup mashed banana

Combine the oats and 1/2 cup water, formula or breast milk. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer about five minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the mashed banana. Pour into a blender or food processor and pulse until smooth, adding water, formula or breast milk until desired consistency is reached.

A Red Delicious A Day...

Red Delicious apples have the highest concentrations of healthful chemicals compared to eight other varieties, according to a study in Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry. Canadian researchers also found the peel of the Red Delicious apple – which is the most common variety in the United States – contains over six times more antioxidants than the flesh. This held true with the other apple varieties tested as well.
