Introduction
Christmas was great this year! My husband and I had a
lovely day with the children. The dinner was a
complete success, and I admit, I was really bad. I
ate to excess and enjoyed every minute of it! I had
lots of sweets from family members that the kids over
indulged on, and it was gone by the time Christmas Day
arrived. So I whipped up a simple cake for a dessert,
and there is a lot to be said about simplicity. It
was the best one I think I had this holiday. It was a
yellow cake with butter cream frosting. Nothing
fancy, but delicious!
One of the reasons I over did it on the sweets was because of the dreaded PMS. Does anyone else have that problem with going over board on sweets during that time? I get a sweets craving that won't go away. And the sugarless ones just don't cut it for me. I have to have chocolate.
I had some wonderful information passed to me just recently about PMS that I, after 28 years, was clueless to. And I hope this will be beneficial to all of you as well. One woman, Dr. Katherine Dalton, did case studies on PMS and it's affects to the body. Some of the worst symptoms were the irritability and impatience along with cravings. These can be relieved through eating properly and on a regular basis.
One of the most interesting things I learned is not to let yourself get hungry. The liver releases adrenaline when this happens and you become irritable. Eating good carbohydrates every 2-3 hours without missing a meal of them will allow your blood sugar level to remain steady and keep adrenaline from being released. It will also slow down the sugar cravings.
Vitamins are great at this time too, but they can't do it all by themselves. Diet is essential at this time to help. I have a lot more tips, so be sure to read next week's diary!
Tip of the week: Don't eat today what you will have to work off tomorrow!
