Mary's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
April 28, 2003
I know it has been a long time. Life got really hectic for me and I didn't have any extra time for much. I started school in February and between that and working I didn't have the energy.
Now I have quit my job at Wal-Mart (last Tuesday was the last day) and I have only 2 more clinicals I have to do to get my CNA lisence. So things have slowed down considerably. Now I can focus again on my weight loss:)
I am happy to report that through all of this I did loose about 5 more pounds. It would have been more if I didn't have problems eating. I was so busy I would forget to eat. Not good for the metabolism or for loosing weight! My body actually went into starvation mode and was holding on to the extra fat.
I was so concerned about why I wasn't loosing weight that I talked to my Doctor, also a nutritionist. We figured out how many calories I need everyday to keep my body working efficiently. I need to have around 1875 calories to run my body (based on weight, age, and activity level). He told me not to get less than 200 calories below that or my body would start to go into starvation mode again. So to loose the weight it's up to exercise as when you exercise it burns the fat calories stored in your body, not from what you ate that day.
This info really opened my eyes. I had no idea I was doing such harm to my body. It wasn't like I wasn't eating, I just wasn't eating 3 meals a day, maybe just 1 or on a good day 2. I knew I wasn't anorexic or anything but I was doint to myself the same thing an anorexic person does. NOT GOOD!
Well we sat down and worked up a plan. I am walking 5 days a weekfor around 30 minutes to 45 minutes. I am also doing Yoga 3 days a week as it is strength training as well as stretching. I am just looking for a good Yoga work out. I used to do the Inhale program on the Oxygen network but it's not on anymore. So I am looking for something new.
I am really hoping that I can stick with this program and eat as much as I am supposed to. I am really going to try to do better with my posting here too! I feel bad that life got in the way of this. It really does help to keep me in check when I post. So I'll be back soon! Hope you are all doing well! Until later...
