Can alcohol be a part of a healthy diet? I like to drink occasionally, but worry about the effects on my body. How much is too much? Are some forms of alcohol better than others?
Yes, it can be. Too much has to do with you -- how much you weigh, how often you drink, etc. Red wine has been shown to be good for the heart! I would argue with those who would say drinking everyday is OK -- I think the word you used "occasionally" is the best route. Choose red wine over hard booze and definitely, no more than a glass or two - occasionally.
