My 1-year-old grandchild has eczema on her face and hands. What foods should she eat or avoid to help her condition?

Eczema is sometimes associated with food allergies. In that case, the mostlikely culprits would be cow's milk, soy, eggs, and nuts. Talk to yourpediatrician or registered dietitian (RD) before eliminating foods from herdiet.
In general, a child with eczema needs a nutritious diet like otherchildren. Plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, protein foods andcalcium foods. I also recommend plenty of omega-3 fats for children witheczema. Omega-3 fats are in fish (especially fatty fish like salmon), nuts(give her thinly spread nut butters like almond and cashew -- 1-year-oldsmay choke on pieces of nuts), flax seed (which can be used in baking) andflax oil (she could take a teaspoon a day -- mix into food if necessary).
