Expert Q&A

Can you cook dried beans in a Crock Pot?

Yes, the Crock Pot is ideal for cooking beans. Beans take several hours to cook. In a Crock Pot you can leave them on all day and not have to keep checking the pot. Some experts recommend soaking the beans overnight before cooking them, however this can be done in the Crock Pot itself, overnight, on the lowest temperature setting. Be sure NOT to add salt, sugar or any acidic ingredients to the beans before they have softened. In the morning, drain the beans, add clean water and the other ingredients in your recipe and cook until done.
