Can you tell me the proportions to make homemade onion salt?
In the interest of health and better cooking, let me encourage you to go ahead and use onion powder and go easy on the salt. Whatever you are cooking will work out fine and you can salt and pepper to taste. I almost NEVER use measurements with salt and pepper and in my book, Healthy Foods: An Irreverent Guide to Understanding Nutrition and Feeding Your Family Well (Champion Press), I explain why: we tend to over-salt and doing it to taste will help us to develop a sense of true taste and flavor without the salt overkill.
So go ahead and use the onion powder. Then add your salt "to taste"!
