Expert Q&A

When boiling fresh corn-on-the-cob, how long should it take?

Well, that depends. For me, I don't like it overcooked and basically like it to get heated through and take it out. Other people like their corn a little more cooked. Our neighbor raises corn in the field next to our houses and they cook their corn for about 20 minutes. To me, that's excessive. You want the corn hot, not too crisp, but certainly not mushy. I'd give it five to 10 minutes (depending on how big your corn is) and drain well.
