Is it safe to salsa dance while pregnant?

It should be fine to continue salsa dancing as long as you keep the following points in mind:

  • Don't exercise at a level that makes you feel out of breath, dizzy or extremely fatigued. You shouldn't exceed a level that feels moderate to somewhat hard (you should be able to talk while doing the activity without gasping).
  • Drink a lot of water during and after the dancing. Also, make sure you have a medium snack an hour before the activity.
  • Avoid any sharp, quick movements and turns. Slow down your movements and modify them as needed to feel comfortable. Also, don't do any activity that requires a lot of balance after the first trimester.
  • Avoid smoky, hot environments, and don't go dancing in places where people are smoking.
