Can you recommend your favorite baby food cookbooks?
My personal favorite is called Child of Mine: Feeding with Love and Good Sense by Ellen Satter. It isn't exactly a cookbook, but it tells new parents everything they could possibly need to know about what to feed a baby (along with food preparation suggestions). She does a lot of trouble-shooting which is quite helpful.
I posed this question to a few colleagues of mine, and they also suggested How Should I Feed My Children? From Pregnancy Through Preschool by Sandra Nissenberg. Another book that was wildly popular in the 1970s by Vicki Lansky called Feed Me I'm Yours appears to be mostly available through used bookstores, and I'm told it is very user friendly.
One last key point when you choose to make baby foods instead of using jar foods is to be very vigilant with sanitation issues. These books cover safe food handling, too.
