Question: You speak about avoiding sushi since the meat is uncooked. But the rolls of sushi I eat are all cooked and made into maki rolls. Is this ok to eat during pregnancy? Answer: Yes. As long as the food is prepared in a sanitary fashion you are at much less risk for food poisoning. Uncooked foods harbor bacteria that could possibly give you food poisoning. As long as the meat (any meat) is cooked to the correct internal temperature you are less likely to get food poisoning. So feel free to eat your maki rolls. Just take it easy on the wasabi!!! (Heart burn!!! But it’s worth it :o)
