Can you take too much folic acid during pregnancy?
It is possible to get too much folic acid. The recommendation is 1000 micrograms or less daily. Women in their childbearing years and other adults require only 400 micrograms a day, so I would omit the folic acid supplement and keep the multi-vitamin. There's no folic acid in greens -- they have folate, the naturally-occuring cousin to folic acid, which is man-made. However, there is folic acid in fortified grains, so there is a good chance you're getting at least half of your daily requirement for folic acid from food.
