Question: Which form of exercise is best for a whole body workout: exercise bike, treadmill, jumping rope or Tae-Bo? Answer: All these forms of exercise are a wonderful way to get in shape, but for a total body workout the jump rope probably is your best bet. You use the upper body (to revolve the rope) and lower body as your jump. The problem with this exercise is that most people can't sustain it long enough for a cardiovascular workout. Ideally you should try to work up to at least 20 minutes of sustained exercise at a moderate to somewhat hard level. Tae-Bo can also be a good total body workout, but for some people the rapid, balance requiring movements can cause muscle and joint injury. It's not a good choice for people with back problems and/or joint problems.
