Can children be allergic to soy?

Yes. In fact, according to the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, soy is one of the top six allergy-causing foods for kids. It is usually not life-threatening, and it can be outgrown. As with any new food in a child's diet, parents should introduce it singly and wait for five to seven days to see if an allergic reaction presents itself. Look for a rash, swelling or other unusual reaction and immediately discontinue use. Seek the advice of a physician.
