Apple Nut Bars
Recipe from the 50+ Friends Cookbook
Ingredients
3 cups finely chopped apples, 4 medium
1 package (15 ounces) nut quick bread mix
1 can (14 ounces) Eagle brand sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1 cup chopped nuts
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Cream Cheese Frosting:
2 packages (3 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups confectioner's sugar, sifted
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients; mix well. Pour into greased and floured 15x10-inch jellyroll pan. Bake 30 minutes or until golden. Cool. Spread with the Cream Cheese Frosting.
To make the frosting, beat the cream cheese, butter and vanilla in a bowl until fluffy. Add the confectioner's sugar and mix well.
