Applesauce Cobbler Cake

This simple dessert starts with canned biscuit dough.

Ingredients

Cake:
1 tablespoon margarine, softened
4 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup applesauce
2 tablespoons maple-flavored syrup
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 can (17 ounces) jumbo biscuits

Topping:
1 1/2 cups applesauce
1/2 cup maple-flavored syrup

Directions

Butter a 9-inch square baking pan. Set aside.

Combine the topping ingredients in a saucepan. Cook until heated through. Set aside.

Combine all the cake ingredients except the biscuits and pecans. Mix well. Separate the biscuits, and then cut each into eight pieces. Place in the bottom of pan. Sprinkle with the chopped pecans. Pour the applesauce mixture over the top.

Bake at 350 degrees F 30 to 35 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove and let cool in pan about five minutes.

Suggestions

Serve individual pieces with a spoonful of the topping on top, and a dollop of whipped cream.
