| Caramel Bars |
| 1 cup quick-cooking oats 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup flour ¾ margarine, melted ½ teaspoon baking soda Dash of salt 1 package (14 ounces) caramels 1/3 cup milk 1 package (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips ½ cup chopped pecans |
| Combine the oats, brown sugar, flour, melted
margarine, baking soda and salt. Sprinkle 1 cup of the mixture into the bottom
of a 13x9-inch baking pan (do not press down). Bake at 350 degrees F about 10
minutes. Set aside. Melt the caramels by placing them into a microwave-safe bowl with the milk. Cook on high about 3 minutes, stirring after each minute. Pour over baked crust. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and nuts. Place back in the oven and bake another 10 minutes. Cool in the refrigerator, then cut into squares. |
