Easy Apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel)
Ingredients
1 pound apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1/2 cup raisins
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons sugar
2 slices of white bread, made into breadcrumbs
8 ounces phyllo (filo) dough
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
Directions
Combine the apples, raisins, cinnamon, sugar and breadcrumbs. Toss to combine.
Lay two sheets of the phyllo dough on a cookie sheet; brush with some of the melted butter. Repeat until all the sheets are used. Top with the fruit mixture. Roll the sheets up like you would a jelly roll. Brush the entire roll with the remaining melted butter.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool about 10 minutes before cutting.
