| Tasty Tarantula by Lori Bonner |
| Who says cheese balls are just for crackers? This delicious peanut
butter chocolate chip cheese ball is a crowd pleaser, especially with
kids. |
| 2 packages (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened (not light) 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter 1 cup powdered sugar 1/4 teaspoon almond extract 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips Chocolate sprinkles 2 hard, round candies 8 chocolate licorice pieces For dipping: animal crackers, graham crackers, sticks of angel food cake, bite-sized brownies, vanilla wafers |
| Combine the two packages of cream cheese, peanut
butter and powdered sugar in a medium bowl. Stir in the almond extract, vanilla
and chocolate chips. Refrigerate at least one hour or until it is firm enough
to form into a ball. (Coat hands with powdered sugar first to prevent
sticking.) Roll the ball in chocolate sprinkles to make a “hairy” tarantula’s body. Place on a serving platter. Use two red, round candies to make eyes. Use eight chocolate licorice pieces for the legs. |
||
| Surround the tarantula with desired
dippers. |
