Homemade Blue Cheese Salad Dressing

Robin Carver

This is a recipe I got from my mother, and I think she got it from my grandmother's 1940s cookbook. It is the only salad dressing that my parents, my sister and her three children and I will eat at home. My 2-year-old daughter also LOVES it!

Ingredients

2 cups mayonnaise (don't use reduced fat or fat free)
1/2 cup sour cream (don't use fat free or reduced fat)
1/2 cup buttermilk (or plain sweet milk works as long as you add two drops of lemon juice)
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (white vinegar also works)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly-ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (not garlic salt)
1 package (4 ounces) blue cheese, crumbled

Directions

Combine all except blue cheese and mix well. Gently stir in cheese and refrigerate four to six hours or overnight.
