Pacino's Low-calorie Italian Spaghetti
Al and Katherin Pacino
Sal Pacino, Al Pacino's father and iParenting's Dad of the Month, shares a family favorite!
Ingredients
3 cans Progresso crushed tomatoes with basil
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 to 3 pinches sugar (depends on how sweet you like the sauce)
1/2 to 1 cup whole mushrooms
1 to 3 onions, chopped
1 to 3 garlic cloves, crushed
Salt and pepper to taste
Kosher ground beef sirloin, very lean
1 pound spaghetti
Directions
In a frying pan stir onion, garlic and olive oil. When the onion is transparent add the chopped meat and brown. Salt and pepper to taste.
In separate saucepan add tomatoes and heat, stirring constantly. Bring to boil and put on low heat. Add mushrooms and sugar to sauce. When sirloin is brown add to crushed tomato mixture and cook on low heat for two hours.
Right before mealtime, cook spaghetti until al dente. Rinse with cold water. Mix and say bon appetite!
