Chicken A La King
A classic!
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 small onion, chopped
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/4 cups chicken broth
2 cups shredded cooked chicken
1 jar (2 ounce) pimientos, drained
Directions
Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the onion and mushrooms and cook until soft. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Cook until bubbly, stirring constantly. Gradually add in milk and broth. Bring to boil. Cook one minute, continuing to stir. Add chicken and pimientos. Heat through.
Suggestions
Serve over toast, rice or noodles.
