Crab Dip
Billye Holder
Hot crab dip served in a bread bowl. Perfect for parties!
Ingredients
11 ounces cream cheese
1 small onion, minced
5 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 cans (6 ounces each) crabmeat, drained
Garlic powder, to taste
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 large round loaf Italian bread
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, onion, mayonnaise, crabmeat, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Spread the mixture into a 1-quart baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes.
Cut a circle out of the top of the bread, and then scoop out the inside. Tear the inside into pieces or dipping.
Remove the baked crab dip from the oven and stir well. Spoon the mixture into the hollowed out bread. Place the bread bowl and chunks of bread on a baking sheet. Bake for an additional 10 minutes. Serve hot.
