Olive Oil and Zataar
Joel Levy
Joel Levy, iParenting's Dad of the Month, shares a family favorite!
Ingredients
Pita bread
Olive oil
Zataar*
Fresh, chopped tomatoes
Directions
Toast the pita bread (about one whole per person). Combine 1/4 cup of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of zataar in bowl. Place the chopped tomato (about one per person, on average) in small bowls (one small bowl per person).
With your hands, tear off pieces of warm pita and dip in the communal bowl of olive oil and zataar, and eat. (No double dipping!) Drizzle the same mixture of olive oil and zataar on the tomatoes (as you like), and eat from the bowl with a spoon.
Suggestions
*Zataar is an herb mix found in Israeli and Arabic specialty food stores.
