Hot Buttered Rum
A holiday tradition!
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
8 to 10 cups apple cider or juice
Rum
Cinnamon sticks
Directions
Melt the butter in a 1 1/2-quart saucepan. Add the spices and stir. Add sugar. Remove from the heat and mix well.
Bring the apple cider to a boil in a large soup pot. Boil 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in the butter mixture.
To serve, pour the apple cider into mugs. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of rum, according to taste, to each serving. Add cinnamon stick for garnish.
Suggestions
If serving at a party, pour into a Crock Pot to keep warm.
