Creamed Peas on Toast
Mrs. Stephanie Cudmore
This favorite has always been perfect for those days when my mother needed to make us a quick and easy meal!
Ingredients
2 tablespoons margarine
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups milk
Frozen or canned peas
Salt and pepper, to taste
Bread for toast
Directions
Melt the margarine in a pot. When melted, remove from heat and add the flour. Mix well. Add the milk and bring to a boil. Once it starts to boil, add the peas, salt and pepper. Cook until peas are heated through. Serve over toast.
Suggestions
Instead of just peas, I sometimes use a mixture of peas and carrots. For a non-vegetarian option, add tuna or cooked chicken pieces.
